À propos de l'événement

MASA-UK Art Gallery would love to invite you to our next opening event, where we will have the incredibly talented artists: Daniel Riley and Hanna El Azzabi

Daniel Riley, a keen photographer, has been motivated by capturing the ever changing light and weather conditions, while hiking and doing outdoor activities. His love for the Peak District and Lancashire Pennine’s moorlands, has been transformed into his art work, in a way that showcases the atmospheric conditions.

The use of texture, tone and ambiguous, abstract forms communicates the physical and emotional, rather than a literal representation of the location. His work can often be minimalistic or reductionist in a way where he likes to break thing down to their base elements in order to communicate something that is purer and more refined.

As an artist,Hanna tries not to be a passive part of this system. She tinkers and shapes composite images. Hanna mixes mediums and references and reconstructs meaning through fragmentation at the borderline between the real and the imaginary.

First she deconstructs and then rebuilds, using images which, taken out of their context are no longer sacred but mundane. She always starts by collecting bits of materials from video games, movies, and the news to create a new composition inspired by an imaginary picture issuing from popular culture and that she keeps in mind throughout the whole process. This obsessive picture had stricken her at some time in the past and now it fits in well with the new context she has chosen for it.

To Hanna, everything begins and ends with popular imagery, this great nebula which has shaped us and that we then contribute to shape in our life time.
